We are so glad that you are considering becoming a teacher! It takes a special person to dedicate his or her career to being a positive role model in the lives of young people. We encourage you to learn more about our programs by following the steps listed below.

If you have less then 40 credit hours, please call 602-543-6354 to make an appointment to meet with Jackie Chamberlain in the CTEL advising office.

If you have 40 credits or more, please reserve a seat for the mandatory Prospective Student Orientation.

The Prospective Student Orientation includes information about:

• ASU's West campus admission process
• Elementary, Early Childhood, Bilingual, English as a Second Language, Secondary, and Special Education programs
• Professional Teacher Preparation Program admission requirements
• Field experience / student teaching requirements
• Graduation and teacher certification requirements
• Transcript evaluation

Advisors are available to assist students looking to transfer from community college to the West campus. Please visit:

• Marissa Ames visits Paradise Valley Community College’s (PVCC) advising center every Thursday from 9:00am–11:30am. Please call the PVCC advising office at 602-787-7060 to schedule an appointment.
• Tracy Tadrick visits Estrella Mountain Community College’s advising center every other Thursday between 9:00am-12:00pm. Please e-mail CTELquestions@asu.edu or call (602) 543-6358 to confirm when Tracy will be visiting your campus.
• Jackie Chamberlain is at Glendale Community College’s advising center every Tuesdays and sees walk-ins from 8:00am–4:30pm.
• Amanda Collins visits Phoenix College every other Thursday between 9:00am -12:00pm. Please e-mail  CTELquestions@asu.edu or call her at (602) 543-6358 to confirm when Amanda will be visiting your campus.
