The ASU College of Teacher Education and Leadership offers both campus-based and school district-based teacher education programs. Both types of programming are high quality and give you flexible options.
What is a “school district-based” teacher education program?
A school district-based teacher education program is a program that is fully delivered in a partner school district. ASU goes to the community; students go to a partner district (not an ASU campus) to take classes and complete the program.
What are the benefits of the school district-based teacher education program?
In addition to possibly being closer and allowing you to avoid campus parking fees, the school district-based teacher education programs:
- Immerse you in the real world of kids, teachers, and teaching with extensive and practical classroom teaching experiences and feedback
- Provide you a highly personalized educational experience with a small group of students who are together throughout the entire teacher education program and a lead professor/coordinator who provides the attention, support, and guidance needed to prepare you as an excellent new teacher
- Research shows that new teachers prepared in the school district-based teacher education programs are highly confident and are able to deliver excellent teaching results even in their first year
Program options for the school district-based teacher education programs
- Bachelor of Arts in Education with an ESL Endorsement
- Master of Education in Elementary Education with Certification (Grades 1-8)
- Master of Education in Special Education with Dual Certification (Special Education grades K-12 and Elementary Education grades 1-8)
