Ed.D., Leadership and Innovation

Program

The Ed.D. in Leadership and Innovation is a program that furthers the goals of the New American University.

This program helps educational leaders to acquire deep understanding, dispositions, and skills to lead change and examine its impacts in their workplaces.

As a result, these leaders will have a deeper understanding of their work, their organizations, constituents, co-workers and themselves, and develop the capacities to lead and manage change for a better world.

Students will

  • engage in several cycles of Action Research in their workplace to learn skills for implementing and evaluating change;
  • study as a cohort in some classes, independently in others, to gain knowledge and skills;
  • be part of a smaller group consisting of one faculty member and five students for research support (a Leader Scholar Community)

As a result, we believe students will become practitioner-scholars who can turn ideas into action, build better schools and communities, conduct research that is embedded in the work of education, and transform themselves and their organizations for service to the greater good.

Admissions for the next cohort will open Fall 2008

Application requirements include transcripts from all prior higher education institutions attended, and recommendations from three people. No GRE or other test is required.
