Early Childhood Teaching and Leadership

Program

The Early Childhood Teaching and Leadership program leads to eligibility for certification to teach those from birth through third grade.

Degree Offered

B.A.E., Early Childhood Teaching and Leadership:

The Early Childhood Teaching and Leadership program housed in the College of Teacher Education and Leadership (CTEL) is designed to give students a firm grounding in early childhood pedagogy and programming with a special emphasis on community connectedness, technology integration, and administration, policy analysis and advocacy related to young children and their families. Every semester students are engaged in field experiences and internships that align with their academic program.

The faculty members in the program are very experienced at successfully working with first generation college students. Moreover, our early childhood program and faculty members have earned several national awards on integrating technology into teaching. Students who complete the Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Teaching and Leadership (BAE) are recommended for the new Arizona Birth-Grade 3 teacher certification.

Students with an Associate's (AAEE) degree will be able to transfer into the BAE Program in Early Childhood Teaching and Leadership. All graduates of this program who desire to teach in a public school preschool and kindergarten or the primary grades will have to pass a state certification test in both content area knowledge and professional knowledge.
