Admission

Admissions are accepted online only. Go to www.asu.edu/gradapp.  Some guidance to help you with the admissions process is here.

FINANCIAL AID

Questions about financial aid should be directed to the Financial Aid Office at http://students.asu.edu/financial-aid

TAKING CLASSES

Classes are scheduled so that students can finish two complete 3-credit classes by coming to classes one night per week. On campus, classes are 15 weeks long, and students attend one class in the first part of the evening and the other class in the second part. Off campus, courses are scheduled for 8 weeks in length and meet for longer class periods each week.

Students receive a course schedule and student handbook from the College upon admission. Courses are scheduled to allow students to graduate in two years, but not all courses are available each semester. Students who take courses out-of-sequence may not be able to finish in two semesters.

THE PROGRAM OF STUDY

The Program of Study is the list of courses that a student will take in order to earn the degree. Students complete the program of study online and submit it. After approval by the College of Teacher Education and Leadership and the Graduate College at ASU, this is the student’s roadmap through the program. A student unable to take a class listed on the program should see an advisor to determine how to resolve this and file a petition to amend the program.

THE COMPREHENSIVE EXAMINATION

It is the student’s responsibility to apply to take the Comprehensive Examination at the end of the program. Please contact your faculty advisor or email ctelgrad@asu.edu when you are close to this point in your program so that you receive the information that you need.

GRADUATION, COMMENCEMENT AND CONVOCATION

In the last semester of the program, a student should apply for graduation by mid-semester. Go to http://www.asu.edu/registrar/graduation/

There are two ceremonies to recognize graduates: commencement and convocation. For information these events at http://www.asu.edu/graduation/geninfo/questions.html

AFTER GRADUATION

Please stay in touch!  We are proud of our graduates and we like to hear from them as they progress in their careers. We maintain a listserv so graduates can communicate with us and each other. Just send an email to suzanne.painter@asu.edu to request to be placed on the listserv after graduation.
