M.Ed. Elementary Education
Program
The Master's program in Elementary Education offers six different specializations meeting the professional needs of both aspiring and current teachers. Please click on each specialization below for a more detailed description of each option as well as the requirements of the Arizona Department of Education for certification or endorsement.
Specializations available are:
- Certification:
Meets Arizona's requirements for teacher certification. It is designed for those with bachelor's degrees who wish to earn both an M.Ed. degree and become certified. Two streams and a number of formats are available for this specialization.
- Educational Technology:
Leads to Arizona's computer science endorsement. It is designed to serve classroom teachers and computer specialists.
- Reading:
For practicing teachers, leading to Arizona's reading endorsement.
- ESL/BLE:
For practicing teachers in second-language environments, leading to the English as a Second Language/Bilingual Language Education endorsement.
- General:
Designed with the assistance of a faculty advisor to meet the needs of a student's professional and career goals.
- Content Academy:
leading to highly qualified status and only available in school districts with a Professional Development Agreement with the college.

Admission Requirements
In addition to the basic requirements for admission to graduate studies at ASU, admission to all but the M.Ed. with Certification requires a provisional or standard teaching certificate. Please include a description of your certificate in the resume you will submit as part of the online application.
