B.A.E. Secondary Education
Degree
The B.A.E. in Secondary Education leads to eligibility for certification to teach students from grades 7 - 12. Secondary Education is a major within the Professional Teacher Preparation Program, ASU's comprehensive and integrated curriculum for teacher preparation. Secondary Education graduates are prepared to:
- Collaborate and communicate with students, other professionals, parents and the community.
- Develop knowledge, skills and attitudes to think critically.
- Design, implement, and assess standards-based lessons to increase student achievement.
- Meet the educational needs of diverse populations.
- Develop competence in a content area taught in grades 7-12 classrooms.
- Increase student participation in lifelong and relevant learning.
- Develop and implement plans for continued professional development.
- Use technology in meaningful ways to enhance student learning.

Language Arts
Mathematics

Political Science/American Government
Social Studies
These specializations are available, and all coursework can be taken at the West campus. Specializations in other areas , such as art, business, German, and Spanish, require a methods course to be taken at the Tempe campus.
